Blick’s extensive Universal Glass Test

Which is the best universal glass? The winner: JOSEPHINE No 2

Practical - or? The universal glass is considered a glass for all occasions. But do universal glasses truly make the grade? Which is the best? And do price, design and shape really play such a big role when it comes to enjoying wine? To answer these questions, an eight-member jury, including Master of Wine Ivan Barbic and top winemakers Francisca Obrecht and Urs Pircher tested eight glasses from the most well-known manufacturers in Swiss Sunday newspaper SonntagsBlick’s extensive universal glass test.

The test glasses were tested with eight different Swiss wines: one sparkling wine, three dry white wines (including an aged Chasselas), three red wines and one sweet wine.

For the evaluation, a score was given to each wine as experienced in each of the glasses. The same wine often achieved a different score in different glasses. The universal glass which achieved the highest score across all wines secured the overall victory. The clear winner: our JOSEPHINE No 2.

Already in 2021, the JOSPHINE No 2 took first place in the universal glass test of the trade magazine “Vinum.”

Kurt Josef Zalto is delighted by this further result:

“I am honored that our JOSEPHINE No 2 glass won this test conducted by professionals.”
