A Symbol Of Hope
A Sommelier Corkscrew With A Unique Tale
On July 14, 2021, a historic flood wreaked havoc in the Ahr wine region of Germany, devastating the family-owned Meyer-Näkel winery in Dernau. In the aftermath, a remarkable discovery unfolded: nine intact barrels of Pinot Noir from the winery surfaced in the surrounding villages, dubbed the "Lost Barrels" – the sole remnants of the 2020 vintage.
The wood from the inaugural "Lost Barrel" was meticulously repurposed to craft this exclusive sommelier corkscrew. Forge de Laguiole, Josephinenhütte, and Meyer-Näkel joined forces to fashion this extraordinary symbol of hope, resilience, and unity.
